Chiropractors For Kids

Yes, you can take your child to a chiropractor. My name is Anna, and I work for a chiropractic medical office. Some people believe that children are not good candidates for chiropractic services because they are still growing. This is simply not true. Kids' bodies experience the same kinds of stress and pressure as adults' bodies do, and they can also benefit from the attention a chiropractor can give. This is especially true for children who participate in sports and other physically demanding activities. This blog will help you understand what a chiropractor can do for your child and why you should make an appointment to see one.

Switch To Lower Heels To Prevent Back Pain

Neil Fuller

Wearing high heels on a regular basis can lead to chronic back pain. If you wear high heels often and you're experiencing back pain, it's probably time to make a change. A chiropractor can help you resolve your current back pain and provide advice on better shoes to prevent the problem from occurring again. You don't have to wear unfashionable and unattractive shoes, but you do need to become more open to possibilities with lower heels.

The Issue With High Heels

There's a good reason women like to wear high heels -- they make the feet and calves look especially shapely. However, wearing high heels puts stress on the legs, hips and back.

You have to adjust the way you stand and walk when wearing these shoes. You put a lot of pressure on the front of your feet and you also can't balance as well when most of your foot is off the ground. Your body leans too far forward, and you have to compensate by leaning backward and overarching your spine.

Essentially, you change the alignment of your spine, making it flatter than normal when standing in high heels and putting pressure on the nerves in the spinal column. Wearing high heels frequently also can cause leg muscle and tendon strain, knee arthritis and a variety of ailments with the feet.

Coming to a Compromise

Perhaps instead of wearing very high heels, you can find attractive shoes with heels no higher than two inches. If you really want to wear the higher heels sometimes, do so at a minimum -- such as once or twice a week when you'll be sitting most of the time.

If you like to wear heels at work, switch to athletic shoes or low-heeled sandals when you're walking to and from the job. Sandals should have a strap in back so you tense your toes to keep them from falling off.

See whether you can find any shoes with thicker high heels that appeal to you. Those provide more support than narrow heels do.

Concluding Thoughts

Schedule an appointment with a chiropractor to relieve your current back pain problem. During your appointment, talk with this doctor about footwear. You'll receive detailed information about shoe features that are helpful for keeping the musculoskeletal system properly aligned, so you know exactly what to shop for. Wearing the right shoes will help you prevent developing back pain in the future.
